Micro-Learnings by Finerty Consulting
Micro-Learnings
Practical, behavioral, targeted 45-minute 'chunks' of learning that fit together as part of a larger campaign. Micro-learning sessions are intended to teach immediately actionable nano-behaviors to audiences who don't have the time or bandwidth for a larger workshop. They are an agile, flexible learning methodology, designed and delivered just in time to meet an immediate learning need.
What are Nano-Behaviors?
Nano-behaviors are specific, measurable, and intentionally-limited behaviors that participants can learn in just 30-45 minutes and then go on to apply. It's not "establish better cross-functional partnerships" — rather it's "go make these specific investments in 2-3 key partnerships"!
What are some Micro-Learning topics?
 (1)
Partnership Investments
Identifying targeted investments to make in key partnerships.
 (2)
Balancing Your Flexibility
The impact of over- and under-flexibility on trust and influence.
 (3)
Listen Up
Framing your ideas so that stakeholders listen.
 (4)
Make Meetings Matter
Facilitate the heck out of It.
(5)
Your Goals are Set - Now What?
Tools for preventing and resolving goal misalignments.
 (6)

The Micro-Learning Process
Foundational Learning
- E-learning and/or live learning session, giving everyone access to the baseline content and establishing a shared vocabulary for describing and diagnosing cross-functional opportunity areas.
Reinforcement Planning
- Select from a menu of potential topics for the subject of the first micro-learning session, focused on one key nano-behavior and a call to action encouraging participants to put the behavior into practice
Mirco-Learning #1
- First learning session, focused on the first key nano-behavior
- Specific call to action encouraging participants to put the behavior into practice
- Participants vote on the topic for next session
Micro-Learning #2
- Second learning session, focused on the nano-behavior participants voted upon in session #1
- Measure how many participants applied nano-behavior #1
- Specific call to action, encouraging participants to put the behavior into practice
- Participants vote on the topic next session
Micro-Learning #3
- Third learning session, focused on the nano-behavior participants voted upon in session #2
- Measure how many participants applied nano behaviors #1 and #2
- Specific call to action encouraging participants to put the final nano-behavior into practice
Reinforcement Learning
- Evaluate feedback from initial learning and micro-learning sessions to determine opportunity areas and methodology for further learning activities

Outcomes of Micro-Learning
- Practical, measurable, and immediately applicable learning.
- Specific, targeted behaviors that actually get put into practice.
